Il a lieu chaque soir, au cours de la fête du rassemblement qui réunit au mois d'octobre les Yézidis du monde entier à Lalesh, le principal lieu de culte de leur religion. Après le Semâ, les fidèles se réunissent dans la cour du Temple pour embrasser son seuil sacré et passer leurs mains au-dessus du feu cérémoniel. </p><br /><p> The Sema is a Yazidi ceremony during which religious revolve around the sacred fire. It takes place every evening, during the gathering that brings together in October the Yazidis from around the world in Lalesh, the main place of worship of their religion. Il est connu aujourd'hui sous le nom de Khenis, ou Khinnis. Situé au Kurdistan d'Irak, c'est l'oeuvre du roi Sennachérib, fils de Sargon II, qui fait partie d'un vaste système d'irrigation destiné à alimenter Ninive en eau. </p><br /><p> Bavian, a Neo-Assyrian archaeological site on the banks of the Gomel River, was discovered by nineteenth century archaeologists. He is known today as Khenis, or Khinnis. The legend claims that they represent Melek Taous, the leader of the seven Yazidi angels who reigns on earth as a peacock. Après avoir été aspergés d'eau de la source blanche (Kanya spi), ils sont accompagnés un par un jusqu'au Temple par une procession de dignitaires religieux précédée des qawals (musiciens religieux).</p><br /><p>During the Jêma, the October gathering at the Yazidi Temple in Lalesh, a day is dedicated to the purification of 7 scarves of different colors. Il se déroule chaque soir pendant le Jêma, qui a lieu chaque année au mois d'octobre, ainsi que le dernier matin. Au cours de cette cérémonie, des religieux font trois fois le tour du feu sacré, à la suite d'un fakir habillé de noir représentant Sheikh Adi . Les photographies de cette cérémonie sacrée qui n'avait pas eu lieu de 2013 à 2017 étant interdites, celle-ci a été prise grâce à une autorisation exceptionnelle des autorités yézidies.</p><br /><p> Sema is one of the most important Yezidi religious ceremonies. It takes place every evening during the Jema, which takes place each year in October, as well as the last morning. During this ceremony, religious are three times around the sacred fire, following a fakir dressed in black representing Sheikh Adi.
