Bavian est un site archéologique néo assyrien au bord de la rivière Gomel, connu aujourd'hui sous le nom de Khenis, ou Khinnis. C'est l'oeuvre de Sennachérib qui fait partie d'un vaste système d'irrigation destiné à alimenter Ninive en eau. Des inscriptions cunéiformes relatent la construction de canaux, ainsi que le récit de plusieurs campages militaires de ce roi.

Bavian is a Neo-Assyrian archaeological site on the banks of the Gomel River, known today as Khenis or Khinnis. It is the work of Sennacherib which is part of a vast irrigation system intended to supply Nineveh with water. Cuneiform inscriptions relate the construction of canals, as well as the story of several military camps of this king.
